
This was a 50th birthday cake with an open brief; it was after all for my mother and her twin brother.
The cake is layered chocolate brownie with walnuts and super rich chocolate buttercream.
The hot air balloon is blown from cooked sugar (completely hollow) and is supported on a basket woven also entirely from cooked sugar.
Flecks of Gold leaf add to the sunshine effect airbrushed on to the icing.
